Friday 1st May
Talk : Reading Sacred Scripture SERIES 2: THE NEW TESTAMENT : St John's Gospel How do we know we are reading the Bible as it was meant to be read ? How can we allow the Lord to speak to us personally through the sacred texts ? We invite you to join us on Friday evening, 23rd January in Hampton for the first of three talks on the New Testament, beginning with the Synoptic Gospels . We are joined again by Fr Chris Hayden who began this series last year, giving us an overview of the storyline of the Bible and some helpful hints as to how best to go about reading Sacred Scripture. The whole range of human thoughts, emotions and stories are captured in the Bible - nothing new today under the sun, yet what is new is the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus, by whom all is transformed. Come and join us to deepen our faith together, |
Father Chris Hayden is a priest of the Diocese of Ferns. He holds
a PhD in New Testament studies, and has a particular interest in biblical
spirituality and the relationship between faith and culture. His easy to follow talks give keys to help us
in our reading and interpretation of Scripture.
Notes from the talks have kindly been made available by Fr Chris. |
